Born 1980 in Shizuoka, Japan, Shinya Watanabe is an independent curator and Faculty of Temple University Tokyo Campus. After acquiring his MA at New York University, Watanabe have traveled forty countries mainly as a backpacker, and started to curate contemporary art exhibitions, mainly focusing on the issues of the relationships between nation-state and art.
